June is Pride Month and in celebration, we want to highlight areas of progress in America when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights.

Earlier this week, NPR reported on a Gallup poll showing support for same-sex marriage in the U.S. at an all-time high of 70% — the highest percentage since Gallup began tracking it way back in 1996. 

same-sex-household-data-us-censusAnd much of that progress is recent. In the last six years alone, support for same-sex marriage has increased 10% since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states needed to recognize same-sex marriage back in 2015.

The largest demographic shift has been amongst Republicans—according to Gallup, the majority of Republicans (55%) now support same-sex marriage. By comparison, 83% of Democrats also say they support same-sex marriage along with 73% of independents.

Gallup also broke their survey results and—more good news—same-sex marriage also has its highest support ever among all age groups

LGBTQ+ in the Workplace

We celebrate progress, but we also recognize that the struggle continues and there is still work to be done to make our workplaces truly inclusive.

If you’re LGBTQ+, or you’re a manager of LGBTQ+ employees, some workplace issues can be complex. And, if you’re a remote worker going into an office for the first time post COVID, that can add yet another layer of complexity to an already complex situation.
